A brilliant success.

That’s how the 2023 Koonooomoo Pickers and Packers Ball has been described by ball secretary and Cobram Barooga Apex Club member Matt Triffitt.

The event, run by the Apex Club and held from Friday, June 23 to Sunday, June 25, was attended by more than 3000 people from across the region.

Among the show’s headlines act were the Iain Archibald Band and Hurricane Fall.

Mr Triffitt said the sold out event was everything the organisers could have hoped for.

“It was fantastic, fun, eventful, exciting, muddy — all at the same time,” he said.

Mr Triffitt said seeing the joy of the attendees was the best part.

“When we opened the ball arena at 6pm on Saturday night. Once it all came to light and the bars opened and everyone was all excited and got what they came for,” he said.

“It’s been a good, successful event in our eyes. Everyone was very well behaved and everything ran very smoothly, considering we had more than 3000 patrons.”

All money raised will go to the Cobram Barooga Apex Club, which then will distribute it to the local community via the funding of projects.

Past projects the club has supported include Cobram Community Cinema, Koonoomoo Recreation Reserve improvements, new nets for Cobram Cricket Club, Scott’s Oval recreation reserve hall improvements and Cobram Library.

Mr Triffitt said the event would not have been possible without the support and assistance of the local community.

“We want to thank all the volunteers, including Strathmerton and Katamatite Lions and all the local business and sponsors who have helped us out,” Mr Triffitt said.

“Most of all we would like to thank the Koonoomoo residents for being so understanding and accommodating to allow this event to run.”
