Sophie Price returned as Indigo Mayor

Indigo Shire Council’s mayor for the next two years Councillor Sophie Price with deputy mayor, Councillor Jane Dowsley.

Sophie Price has been elected unopposed to lead Indigo Shire for the next two years.

The election of Councillor Price to the position of mayor was unanimous at Indigo Shire’s Council’s meeting on Monday evening, November 20.

Cr Price will be joined by new Councillor Jane Dowsley who has been elected deputy mayor.

In thanking her fellow councillors for their support, Cr Price says she looks forward to working collaboratively with the new team and is committed to showing strong leadership and bringing issues raised by the community into the chamber.

“I believe the community has got it right and there is a clear mandate for change,” Cr Price said.

“We now have the task of balancing all the needs of the community in an inclusive and respectful way.”

In accepting her nomination for deputy mayor for a term of one year, Cr Dowsley says her commitment is to foster strong and resilient communities and to be inclusive, transparent and future-focused.

She says she looks forward to building a more connected Indigo Shire.
