Benalla Library is hosting an event for parents of children aged 0 to 5 to learn how they can support their children’s language and literacy development.

The Speechie Library Talks by Speech Pathology Australia will be held on Thursday, November 23, from 10.30am to 11.30am at the library.

This talk will help foster a connection between libraries and their communities with local speech pathologists, referred to as ‘speechies’.

The free talk is specifically crafted to support parents and caregivers in enhancing their children’s language and literacy abilities in this joint initiative between Speech Pathology Australia and the Australian Library Information Association.

A speechie will deliver a presentation that explores the vital role of speechies and libraries in developing children’s language and literacy.

They will also share tips and strategies that parents and caregivers can use at home to support their child’s language and literacy growth.

Those who attend will also hear a demonstration book reading of one of the Speech Pathology Australia Book of the Year-winning books of 2023 to show parents how they can enhance their children’s language and literary skills.

For more information about this event or to RSVP, call Benalla Library on 5762 2069.
