Things are getting exciting in Nagambie with the Wacky Splash & Play proving a soaking success.

The temporary amusement located at Buckley Park comprises a 4000-metre-square inflatable obstacle course and is proving a hit with residents and tourists.

The Wacky Splash & Play opened on Sunday, January 22, and will continue operating every day till April from 10am to 7pm.

Each day is broken up into 50-minute sessions.

A single entry is $25, family pass is $90 (two adults and two children) and group sessions of up to 10 people are $225.

An all-day pass is $65.

Anyone aged five and up can take part, with kids between five and nine required to be supervised by a paying adult. Participants aged 10 to 14 can go alone as long as there are adults supervising them on the sidelines.

Site manager Sinead Hughes said the obstacle course was an exciting way to enjoy a day out in a safe and secure manner.

“We have fully qualified lifeguards. There are lifeguards both on the inflatables as well as off the inflatables, observing from the sidelines. Safety briefs are given to all participants,” she said.

All participants are required to wear life jackets while on the inflatables. Life jackets will be provided and fitted by facility staff.

Needless to say those under the influence of alcohol and drugs won’t be admitted to the Wacky Splash & Play.

For those seeking a different experience, paddle boards and paddle bikes are also available to hire for an extra cost.

A 15-minute session on the paddle boards costs $25 and $20 for the paddle bikes.

The facility has on-site changing rooms and lockers and patrons can buy food and drink, including summer favourites like slushies, ice cream and hot pies.

Mrs Hughes said feedback from parents had been nothing but positive.

“We have gotten feedback from parents that it is one of the best days that they have ever had. It is great for building kids’ confidence and it’s a great family bonding session,” she said.
