Applications for the Victorian Government’s Sporting Clubs Grants Program are closing on July 21.

Applicants must be community-based organisations involved in sport and active recreation opportunities in Victoria.

Clubs can apply for grants of up to $1000 for new uniforms and equipment, $2000 for skills development, $5000 for training coaches and officials or volunteers, and up to $5000 for better club operations.

These can include first-aid kits, risk management and first-aid training, website and social media developments and upgrades, come-and-try programs.

The latest round’s successful applicants from Cobram include Cobram and District Pony Club, Cobram Barooga Canoe Club, Cobram Junior Soccer and Cobram Roar Football Club.

Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy said he was encouraging local sporting clubs to apply.

“This is too good of an opportunity for our local sporting clubs to miss,” he said.

“Grants like this are an integral part of our smaller regional communities — they keep our sporting clubs alive and running through generations.”

Previous successful applicants from Cobram include Cobram and District Pony Club, Cobram Barooga Canoe Club Inc, Cobram Junior Soccer and Cobram Roar Football Club.

Further information, including how to apply and eligibility guidelines, is available via the state government at https://sport.vic.gov.au/grants-and-funding/our-grants/sporting-club-grants-program; applications can also be made via this link.
