St Joseph's Primary School in Benalla celebrated Harmony Day on Tuesday, March 21.
The school celebrated inclusiveness and respect for everyone's differences with the theme 'We are one, but we are many', highlighting the coming together of many cultures in the community.
Deputy principal Sam Kerlin said the official message of Harmony Day was to promote inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for all.
“Throughout Australia some of us choose to wear something orange to show our support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia,” Mr Kerlin said.
At St Joseph's Primary some students chose to do this to show their support of the day.
Others went the extra mile and chose to wear costumes or various ensembles to represent a particular culture, either one they were familiar with or one that played a role in their own identity and personal story.
These efforts were aimed at showcasing students’ appreciation for cultural differences and promoting a harmonious atmosphere within the school community.

“Today we celebrated differences as a school community, we shared the message that all people belong and hand in hand we are all the same,” Mr Kerlin said.
