Information is being sought from the public after a car reported as stolen was involved in a short police pursuit and, later, a small collision.

Deniliquin Police attempted to stop a Ford Territory in the Deniliquin CBD about 10.40pm on Wednesday.

The car did not stop and is alleged to have sped up to get away, prompting police to give chase for a short time with lights and sirens.

Police abandoned the pursuit but later came across the car crashed into a table drain alongside Hay Rd in north Deniliquin.

No-one was with the car.

In a subsequent search of the car, police allege to have found a small amount of methamphetamine.

The car was later reported as stolen from a Deniliquin address.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 5881 9299 or CrimeStoppers on 1300 333 000.

Possession charges

Two people are to appear in court for alleged drugs possession after separate incidents in Deniliquin.

During a patrol on Tuesday evening, police stopped a 47 year-old male riding a bike in Cressy St about 8.30pm.

After being spoken to, he was subjected to a search. Police allege to have found a small amount of cannabis.

About 11.40pm the same night, police stopped a skateboarder in Cripse St.

The 27 year-old man was searched, and police allege to have found a small amount of methamphetamines.

Both were issued with court attendance notices.
