Strathbogie Shire Council is embarking on a significant initiative to shape the future of its municipality with the development of a Rural and Residential Land Use Strategy and an Urban Growth Strategy.
These key strategies aim to provide a blueprint for land use planning decisions over the next 15–30 years.
To ensure a comprehensive approach, council has engaged a team of experienced planning and engagement specialists to support the development of these Strategies.
As such, it is seeking input through broad community engagement until December 13, before an independently facilitated community panel meets in February 2025 to help inform the direction of these key Strategies.
"We are committed to involving our community in this important strategic planning process," Strathbogie Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Tim Tamlin said.
"Your input is vital to understanding the diverse perspectives on land use and development across both urban and rural areas of Strathbogie."
Community members are encouraged to share thoughts that will help council plan the locations of future residential development.
This can be done by completing an online survey or attending a local drop-in event.

Additionally, council is inviting passionate individuals to join a community panel that will develop and present recommendations to help create the RRLUS and UGS.
Community panel sessions
Session 1: Tuesday 13 February 13, 5pm - 6:30pm (online).
Session 2: Saturday, February 22, 9am - 3pm (in person in Euroa).
Session 3: Tuesday, February 27, 5pm - 6:30pm (online).
"We are looking for community members who are eager to contribute to the future of Strathbogie Shire," Mr Tamlin said.
"No prior expertise is necessary—just an open mind, a willingness to work collaboratively, and a commitment to attend three sessions in February."
The Community Panel will hear from planning experts and come up with considered recommendations to inform the preparation of the RRLUS and UGS.
These recommendations will be presented to the newly elected council in 2025 through a workshop in March.
Expressions of interest are now open for up to 30 community members (18 years and older) to join a randomly selected community panel.
Participants will receive a $100 gift card to recognise their valuable time commitment upon completion of the sessions.
