Strathbogie Shire has announced a significant initiative to enhance road safety and quality across its territory.

Starting in August and continuing through September, the shire will conduct extensive road patching operations on Creightons Creek Rd, Euroa-Strathbogie Rd, Spring Creek Rd, and Merton-Strathbogie Rd.

This exercise, which will cost about $718,000 and be funded through the council’s 2023-24 Capital Works budget, aims to prepare the roads for resealing in the upcoming year.

Administrator Peter Stephenson emphasised the importance of prioritising safety within the 2214 km road network.

“Like everyone, I am aware of the potholes and poor road conditions across Victoria ... and (the council) recognise that these sealed roads require extensive patching on the failed sections,” he said.

“We are focusing this year’s budget on repairing these critical roads, which are heavily used by both cars and major transport.”

Despite the construction, roads will remain accessible, with proper traffic management systems in place to ensure minimal disruption.

Weather permitting, the patching is expected to be completed by the end of September, with resealing scheduled for early next year.
