Students from Gowrie St Primary School’s after-school program were treated to a basketball session put on by Greater Shepparton Lighthouse Project recently, with players from the Shepparton Gators on hand to show them new skills.

Lighthouse Project volunteer and partnerships broker Kathy Fuller said the sessions were important to kids’ wellbeing.

“Lighthouse offers opportunities in after-school basketball programs, cricket and tennis, as we know that these programs are key to kids’ wellbeing,” Ms Fuller said.

She said they were a chance for kids to meet stars from the Shepparton Gators and to get a taste of different sports.

“We do a number of initiatives in after-school programs, like with the Gators, to get kids involved in different sports, which is important in learning new skills,” she said.

She said schools could join the programs by getting in touch with the Lighthouse Project through its website: http://www.gslp.com.au/ or via email: info@gslp.com.au
