In a heart-warming display of mateship and community support, Corey 'Stumpy' Phillips, a member of the ‘Old Skool Riders Social Club’, took centre stage at last year's 'Roll The Dice Ride'.

At just twenty-four years old, Stumpy faced a life-threatening battle against an aggressive form of brain cancer, which was diagnosed two-years ago. Despite his devastating prognosis, the unwavering spirit and support of the Yarrawonga community has shone through.

Stumpy, as he prefers to be called, expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support he has received from the club, particularly highlighting the pivotal role played by club President Steve 'Docko' Docking and the charitable organisation 'Friends in Common'.

"When I first received the news of my stage-four glioblastoma tumour, my world was turned upside down," Stumpy recounted.

"But thanks to Docko and the Old Skool Riders, they turned my hardship into hope through the creation and support of the 'Roll The Dice Ride' fundraiser“, he said.

The fundraiser, orchestrated by Docko and the club committee in 2022, not only raised crucial funds but also provided Stumpy with a $4,000 check, which he described as instrumental in improving his quality of living amidst ongoing treatment.

Additionally, 'Friends in Common' provided practical assistance with fuel vouchers, easing the burden of frequent trips to Albury for specialised medical care.

Encouraging widespread participation in the event, Stumpy called upon all motorbike and car enthusiasts to show their support.

"Pull your bikes and cars out of the shed and get around this life-changing fundraising event," he urged.

"You never know when you might one day need support from the ‘Old Skool Riders Social Club’ or ‘Friends in Common’,“ he said.

The ‘Old Skool Riders’ Social Club are again raising money for local fundraising and support organisation ‘Friends in Common’ on Sunday, August 25.

To be involved, it is $25 entry per head, and there will be three hotel and cafe stops where several raffles will be drawn with a chance to win vouchers and meat trays, from numerous local businesses and there will be major cash prize raffles to conclude the day at the Yarrawonga Hotel.
