Campaspe Shire Council has encouraged Lockington residents to contribute to the Lockington and District Place Based Plan following its official launch on Thursday, July 11.
The community consultation period will provide an opportunity for residents to share their ideas about the future of the region through pop-up sessions and independent submissions.
Campaspe Shire Council Mayor Rob Amos believes the consultation period is a time to listen to locals and take on board suggestions from the community.
“We’re excited about the launch of the engagement process and are looking forward to collaborating with the community on their vision for the future of Lockington and district areas,” he said.
“Throughout the next six weeks council and the place based plan committee will be proactive in reaching out to groups and individuals to participate.”
The Lockington Place Based Plan Committee was appointed in April 2024, and has nine members. They include Colin Bacon, Bridie Boyle, Monica Brereton, Janelle Mancer, Dan Walker, Graeme Wood, and co-chairs Joseph Halloway and Wendy Sims.
The plan covers Lockington surrounding localities of Bamawm, Bamawm Extension, Kotta, Pine Grove, Milloo, Diggora and Tennyson.
Residents are invited to pop-up sessions at Lockington Supermarket on Wednesday, July 31, from 11am to 2pm and at Lockington Recreation Reserve on Saturday, August 10, from 11am to 3pm.
Campaspe Shire Council communities director Jo Bradshaw said that council staff and committee members will be available in-person for the pop-up events, but online feedback can also be contributed.
“For those who can’t make the in-person sessions, we also have options to provide feedback via an online or hard copy survey so that everyone can be involved,” Ms Bradshaw said.
The Lockington Place Based Plan Survey can be completed through council’s website, or they can be picked up from Lockington Business Centre.
Cr Leanne Pentreath, Campaspe Shire councillor in the Western Ward, which covers Lockington and its surrounds, has encouraged the community to participate.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for you to voice your opinions and contribute to shaping the community’s direction,” she said.
“Every voice matters, and every idea counts. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or new to the area, your input is valued.”
Residents can also subscribe to council’s Lockington page for updates and to find out more. Consultation will finish on August 25.
