Sue Clancy has become the first person this year to be rewarded for shopping locally.
Sue’s Golden Bunny Bonanza entry ticket was drawn from the barrel on Friday, earning her a $100 Deniliquin Business Chamber Why Leave Town Deni gift card.
The Golden Bunny Bonanza is a Deniliquin Pastoral Times initiative, supported by the Deniliquin Business Chamber and other local businesses.
It is designed to encourage and reward those who shop locally in the lead up to Christmas.
In total, there is $5500 to be won.
We start with five $100 draws, drawn each Friday until December 13.
For our major prize draw on Friday, December 20, we’ll give away a combined $5000.
One draw will be valued at $500, the second at $1500 and the final draw will win the ticket holder $3000.
To be in the running for one or more of these prizes, all you have to do is support our local businesses.
Local shoppers are rewarded for every $20 spent at a participating business, up to a maximum of 10 tickets per transaction.
So get spending, fill out those tickets and return them to entry boxes at the participating businesses before noon each Friday.
All undrawn tickets will remain in the barrel for the life of the promotion.
Sue’s winning ticket came from Mokanger Butchers.
While she’s entered her shopping tickets in the shopping promotion every year, this is the first time Mrs Clancy has had a win.
She said she always tries to shop in town where possible.
“It certainly helps all the businesses survive,” she said.
“All the things we need, or at least most of them, can be purchased right here in town.
“I’ve been getting my meat from Mokangers for a while now because it’s usually better quality than you can get elsewhere.”
