After a damp start to the Benalla Spring Show on Friday, October 18, the sun arrived on Saturday, enticing the community to the showgrounds.
A bit of rain wasn’t enough to dampen the spirits of the two dog shows, and the hundreds of people who filed through the gates on Friday.
From the Dinkum Dinosaurs to the dog high jump, ferret racing, equestrian events, exhibits, livestock, dog shows, petting zoo, rides and yummy food — there was something for everyone.
Benalla Show Committee secretary Wendy Beer said everyone was delighted with the show.
“We were very happy with how everything looked,” she said.
“The competitions were really good, and the weather was great on Saturday which meant so many people were able to come out and enjoy the show.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time and energy, and an umbrella, to come down on Friday.
“I was really impressed with the dog exhibitors.”
Ms Beer said the highlight for her was seeing the pavilions full of colour and all the people enjoying the show.
“I want to say a big thank you to our committee,” she said.
“Normally, it would take a huge number of people to pull off an event like this, and we only have a small committee.
“And thank you to all our volunteers and stewards who take time out to set up and run the show.
“Thank you to all the people who took the time to create exhibits and prepare animals for the show.
“And thank you to all our sponsors and the public for coming down and enjoying the day.”
