Sunday, March 12, saw the Albert Heaney Oval heave with between 2500 and 3000 people attending the Swanpool Motor Festival.

The sixth annual festival featured displays of cars, motorbikes, tractors, trucks and race cars.

It was organised by the Albert Heaney Oval Committee in conjunction with the Swanpool Motor Festival Committee.

The day also featured a swap meet and market stalls.

Attendees were able to tease their taste buds with multiple food vans and were entertained by live music courtesy of The Rattlers.

Swanpool Motor Festival Committee’s Ross Coles said the day was a roaring success.

“Everybody enjoyed the day and remarked what a great day it was,” Mr Coles said.

“There was more than 200 vehicles to see.

“Probably one of the biggest drawcards that made the event different was that we don’t judge winners by car but they were drawn from a hat and each share in the $7800 prize pool.”

Mr Coles said the money raised at the event would be used to upkeep and maintain the Albert Heaney Oval and its facilities for the whole community.

"This event wouldn’t have been possible without support from the community,“ he said.

“We would like to thank our financial sponsors as well as our supporters who provide the prizes.”

The next festival is planned for 2024 and Mr Coles said the reason behind its popularity was that it had something for everyone.

“It’s a community event where everyone can come and put their car on display, and for others to have a fun family day out,” he said.
