Past players, partners and supporters from the Deniliquin District Cricket Association gathered in Deniliquin last weekend for a special reunion.
The weekend started with an information meet and greet on Friday in the new clubrooms at Memorial Park, which are shared by the Deniliquin Rhinos cricket team and the Deniliquin Netball Association.
Guests returned to the clubrooms on Saturday to see the Rhinos begin their Murray Valley Cricket Association season against Barooga, and then attended a special Sportsman’s Night on Saturday at the Deni RSL Club.
It is estimated that “hundreds” attended the events over the two days.
Deni Rhinos president, DDCA player and reunion co-organiser Tim Hillier said Friday’s event was a chance to relive many memories.
“Many stories were shared at Memorial Park – huge sixes were re-hit, while many wickets and incredible catches were taken again.”
All DDCA teams were represented at the reunion events, with a vast collection of memorabilia from each team on display in the new clubrooms during a successful weekend celebrating 80 years of DDCA history.
