Teen charged with two burglaries in Shepparton

Charged: A handbag and wallet were stolen from a Shepparton house while the owners slept.

A handbag and wallets were allegedly stolen from a Shepparton home after a teenager entered the house through a dog door.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Constable Jessica Stievano said the man allegedly entered the house in Apsley Crt, Shepparton, about 3.30am on Thursday, January 5.

The occupants of the house were asleep at the time.

Police allege the same man broke into a house in Ashton Rd, Shepparton, while armed with a knife on New Year’s Day.

In that incident, police allege he approached the woman who lived there while holding a knife.

He allegedly stole a set of car keys before fleeing.

The woman was not injured.

Police have arrested a Shepparton man, 18, and charged him with aggravated burglary with an offensive weapon, armed robbery, aggravated burglary, theft, committing an indictable offence on bail, and contravening a condition of bail.

The man was remanded to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 9.
