What if you could go to a performance and have someone guide you through it?

Well, that’s exactly what happens in Benalla Theatre Company’s June production of The Drowsy Chaperone.

Stephen Winkler, who has been involved for many years with BTC, plays the man who takes the audience on the journey.

The character is feeling sad, and the musical, one of his favourites, always cheers him up. His commentary on the actors, the songs and life in general are funny as well as poignant.

One of the main characters is Janet Van De Graaff played by Jacqui Creamer. Janet is an upcoming star of the stage but is planning to leave it all behind and get married.

Audiences will remember Jacqui from last year’s Mamma Mia! where she played Sophie.

Returning to the stage with BTC is Linda Simpson, who plays the title role the Chaperone.

There to make sure all goes well for the bride to be, she instead tends to be drowsy due to a few too many drinks.

This hilarious show will take audiences on a trip like no other. It will be staged at BPACC for two weekends from June 16-24.

There will be seven performances with three matinees and four evening shows.

Tickets are available from the BPACC box office, online via www.bpacc.com.au or by calling 5762 5515.
