The educators of Gulpa

Part of what makes a school, community group or sporting club a success is the people involved in them.

Gulpa Pre-School’s students have, since 1984, been supported by amazing educators and assistants.

A non-for-profit organisation from its inception, Gulpa Pre-School has also been overseen by a parent management committee since the same time.

Plus there’s the fundraising committee, which ensures the school remains viable and runs smoothly.

The pre-school has had only three directors, or authorised supervisors, across the course of its history.

The first, from 1991 to 1999, was Maree Kok.

Maree was then succeeded by Karyn Bull, the longest serving director in Gulpa Pre-School history.

She was the director from 2000 through until 2012.

Stepping up to fill the role after Karyn’s departure was current director and educator Angela Bould.

At the close of this year, Angela will equal Karyn’s 12-year record.

The extended periods of time spent in the roles by these educators is a testament to the environment and community that is Gulpa, which they helped to create and foster.

Making up the Gulpa team alongside Angela today is educators Sarah Aitken, Kara Hood and Olivia Park.

The four women continue to create a safe and supported environment for the students of Gulpa Pre-School, which is no surprise knowing the history and standard of the pre-school.
