According to owner Leigh Bushell-Lowe, Seymour’s The Royal Hotel has planned to have live music guests every week for summer.
First on the list is Snow Road Troopers, a four-piece from Markwood, Victoria, who play a range of music styles, including early rock and roll, country, pop, and classic pub rock.
The band comprises lead vocal and rhythm guitar Ian Simon, vocals and lead guitar Alex Milligan, bass guitar and backing vocals Tim Cossor and drummer Greg Murphy.
Mr Murphy said the band started as a three-piece, as they struggled to find a permanent bassist.
“We had Tim come jam and right there and then he was the man for the band,” he said.
“Now, we have been performing together for just over four years.
“The name Snow Road Troopers was my idea because where we rehearse is on my parent’s property in a small place called Markwood, which is on the Snow Rd.”
Snow Road Troopers will perform at the hotel on Saturday, January 20, at 7pm.
“I believe our range of different styles of music would suit The Royal Hotel because we cater for all ages,” Mr Murphy said.
“We will start off with some early rock and roll, some good classics to dance to.
“As the night progresses, we will rock the night away.”
Mr Murphy said the audience could expect a variety of songs.
“We have a couple of songs where we ask someone from the crowd to join us to have a sing with us,” he said.
“At times, our bassist Tim will venture off stage and join the crowd or end up on a table doing his thing on bass.”
Mr Murphy said the band enjoyed entertaining the crowd and putting on a good show.
“The four of us have our differences in styles of music, which makes us a versatile band to what we play on the night,” he said.
Besides the upcoming show at The Royal Hotel, the band has a lot in store for 2024.
“In our local area over the next couple months, they range from weddings, private functions and other clubs and pubs,” Mr Murphy said.
“As for what we have planned for 2024, well, we just want to keep rocking.
“Learning new songs, entertaining the places we perform and meeting new people along the way.”
