Shepparton Theatre Arts Group has postponed its first weekend performances of Steel Magnolias.

The flooding across Shepparton has affected cast and crew, and audience members.

Publicist for Steel Magnolias and STAG secretary Nicky Pummeroy said despite the circumstances, they were steadfast that the show must go on.

“We’re worried about audience members coming from areas that are affected by flooding. We have lots of people that have bought tickets from Melbourne and outlying regions,” Mrs Pummeroy said.

“We have put in so much time, effort and manpower over the last four months, so it would be devastating for our cast and crew not to perform, and devastating for the public to not see it because it’s such a great show and a great way to lift spirits after some hard times.”

Opening night will now be next Thursday, October 27, and this week’s shows for Friday to Sunday will be postponed to Friday, November 4, to Sunday, November 6.

The shows are sold out, so tickets can only be refunded, and are not able to be swapped for another night. Ticket holders have been contacted with further information.
