The Highlands-Caveat CFA station was broken into last week.

At some point between the evening of January 8 and the early hours of January 9, the District 12 CFA station was broken into and its firefighting slip-on was stolen.

The District 12 CFA Facebook page uploaded a post detailing the theft on January 9.

This sparked community outrage, with 217 comments on the post offering support and demanding justice for volunteers at the Highlands-Caveat station.

Over the past weekend however, the slip-on was located and recovered.

Details of the offender(s) or where the vehicle was found are unclear.

On their Facebook page, CFA District 12 posted a thank you message to everyone in the community and surrounds who helped them to locate the stolen slip-on, with their original post having been shared over 8000 times.

“We really do appreciate everyone's help in getting the word out, and helping to get this vehicle recovered,” the post said.

“Thank you all, and thank you Victoria Police for their amazing work as well.”
