Thousands in funds awarded to community groups

Campaspe Shire Council has awarded 15 grants to diverse organisations in the region through their Community Grants program.

A total of $52,204 has been allocated to the program, with individual groups receiving up to $4000 each.

Grant recipients include Echuca Neighbourhood House, Boys to the Bush, Echuca Moama Squash Club, Echuca Moama Australia Plant Society, Echuca Moama Aero Club, Rich River Calisthenics, and Rochester & District Pony Club.

Echuca Neighbourhood House was awarded $4000 for an emergency flood relief service, Boys to the Bush received $4000 to help with the installation of five raised garden beds, while Echuca Moama Squash Club got $2000 to purchase a defibrillator for the club and community to use.

Echuca Moama Australia Plant Society were awarded $400 towards an exhibit of native wildflowers and grassland plants, Echuca Moama Aero Club received $4000 to assist with heating and cooling upgrades in the clubrooms, Rich River Calisthenics received $4000 to install heating units in the new clubrooms, while Rochester & District Pony Club got $4000 for ground spirals and cross country jumps.

Mayor Cr Rob Amos commended applicants for their submissions, and congratulated the successful community groups.

“We are excited to be able to help fund so many wonderful ideas and initiatives across the shire and look forward to seeing the results of each application,” he said.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a grant application, we appreciate the effort that goes into each submission.”

This is the first of two rounds for the Community Grants program. Applications will open in August for round two.
