Council offices in Shepparton were put into lockdown for almost three hours on Tuesday, November 14, after a threatening phone call.

Shepparton police Sergeant Tim Mosely said a man called the Greater Shepparton City Council offices in Welsford St about 10am and threatened to attend council buildings and harm staff.

The Welsford St offices and council’s Wanganui Rd facilities were both put into immediate lockdown.

Sgt Mosely said police had since spoken to the man who made the threat and found “it was a heat of the moment thing”.

“I believe he had an ongoing grievance with council he believed they hadn’t settled,” Sgt Mosely said.

The council buildings were locked down until 12.50pm.

No charges have been laid against the man.
