The first week of winter is upon us and that means it’s time to really start investing in heavy jackets and thick clothing. But what about the pets? They need to keep warm too!

So, this week the News asked readers to show us how their pets were staying warm and out of the cold weather.

From snuggling under a blanket to donning stylish dog oodies, these pets have the right idea when it comes to staying out of the cold!

Here’s a few snaps from our readers.

Snuggles: This is Chief, a one-year-old rescue guinea pig. According to owner Jayden Paige, he enjoys cuddling with his humans, and for a little animal has a lot of personality, yelling in his cage for attention and snacks, with his favourites being bananas and tomatoes. Photo by Contributed
Keeping warm: Rusty is Annette Huggard’s three-year-old Chihuahua, who is apparently “very very spoilt”. Photo by Contributed
