Toc Men’s Shed were called into action when participants of the Kidney Kar Rally rolled through town on Saturday, putting on lunch and providing a break for those raising money for Kidney Health Australia.
The Toc Men’s Shed was approached by the organisers after learning of the group’s hospitality for the Beyond Blue car rally earlier this year.
They provided lunch for the 280 participants at the Toc Racecourse in April, with the Kidney Kar Rally organisers asking for a repeat performance.
This lunch, again held at the racecourse, was for 120 people and was the final lunch of the rally.
The rally ended in Leeton on Saturday after starting in Deniliquin the previous Sunday.
The rally travelled through Mildura, Renmark, Hahndorf, Horsham and Echuca, and while the tally is still being counted it is believed to have raised more than $400,000 to support Kidney Health Australia.
With the success of the lunch, and the venue for both events, the Men’s Shed has indicated that there will be another Beyond Blue rally next year.
The Tocumwal Men’s Shed is a place where men can come and work on an individual projects with help from other members, learn new skills, fix furniture for the community or just call in for some company, a chat and a coffee.
If you or anyone you know may be interested in getting involved, drop in to the shed at the end of Deniliquin Street on a Tuesday or Thursday morning, from 8am-10am.
