Greater Shepparton City Council has advised of a traffic update in Shepparton due to a large sinkhole opening up in the road.

If you are travelling north along Marungi Street after exiting the Fryers Street extension you will not be able to turn right at the roundabout with Nixon Street.

Traffic will need to continue north to Knight Street to make a right turn. Restoration works have started and will be completed tomorrow morning.

The sinkhole is expected to be fixed by Wednesday morning. Photo by Anna McGuinness

Please obey the detours in place around roadworks for your own safety and that of your passengers.

Heavy vehicles and trucks cannot use Marungi Street. Please continue to use High Street.

It follows a similar incident nearby on November 11 where a “pavement traffic hazard” - as described by VicRoads - on the intersection of Nixon and Wyndham streets had to be covered up by large steel plates.
