Sections of the Hume Fwy will close for vital maintenance works.
Night works on the 20km stretch between M80 Ring Rd and Kalkallo are expected to last for five weeks, starting from Monday, April 7.
Crews will only work from 9pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday, to minimise disruption to traffic.
Motorists can expect lane closures on some nights, while other nights will require full freeway carriageway closures.
Full freeway closures needing detours will start from Monday, April 14 and are expected to take 15 nights.
During closures, traffic will be detoured via the Hume Highway/Sydney Rd to the west, or Epping Rd to the east.
Drivers must obey the 40km/h speed limit when driving near road workers, and should allow up to 20 minutes extra for their journey.
With works being heavily dependent on weather conditions, dates and times may change.
No work will take place over the Easter or Anzac Day long weekends.
