Greater Shepparton City Council is advising of more traffic changes due to roadworks.

New Dookie Rd and Wheeler St works continue

Works at New Dookie Rd and Wheeler St in Shepparton have progressed to stage two.

The next stage of the project sees work happening along the north side of New Dookie Rd, with traffic down to one lane and the use of temporary traffic lights in place for the duration.

Access into Wheeler St from New Dookie Rd will be permitted; however, there will be no access from Wheeler St to New Dookie Rd.

The Ash St and New Dookie Rd intersection will be closed until works are completed.

The project is expected to be completed by the start of May.

Once completed, the project will see the upgrade of the existing intersection to a signalised T-intersection, with works involving the reconstruction of road pavement designed for heavy vehicle traffic, dedicated slip and turning lanes, traffic signals, controlled pedestrian crossings, improved street lighting and extension to the shared path network linking to Verney Rd.

Installation of speed cushions in Mooroopna

Upgrade works have begun in the following Mooroopna streets: Elizabeth, Treacy, McKean, O’Brien and Northgate.

The works will involve the installation of speed cushions at nine sites, with associated kerb extensions and islands where required.

The upgrades began today, March 28, and will be completed by the end of May, subject to weather and other factors. The working hours will be Monday to Friday, between 7am and 6pm. It is expected each site installation will be completed within one day.

These works are part of the Mooroopna Local Area Traffic Management study, which was developed in 2020 following community consultation in October and November 2019. Feedback from the community highlighted concerns from local residents regarding traffic speed, traffic volumes and driver behaviour in the area east of Echuca Rd and north of McLennan St.

Access to adjacent properties will be maintained throughout the works, and where required, temporary alternative routes will be signposted.
