Victoria Police are investigating a collision between a car and a train in Euroa on Friday, October 13.

Officers believe the car travelled along Campbell St, Euroa, about 8pm and approached a railway crossing.

As the car approached the crossing, officers believe it somehow began travelling along the rails before becoming stuck on the tracks.

Unable to move the vehicle, the driver and passenger vacated it unharmed.

Police media said a short time later a train travelling along the tracks collided with the empty vehicle.

Nobody was injured in the collision.

The exact cause of the collision is being investigated.
