What does a good road trip and a town have in common?
The answer is a good café, and thankfully for both road trippers and locals alike the town of Katamatite is sorted with the newly opened Triple Bean Café.
Co-owned by wife and husband team Amanda and Marcus Mancini along with Marcus’s father, Pino Mancini, the café opened on Tuesday, June 20.
Mrs Mancini said the café, located in the centre of town on the Benalla-Tocumwal Rd, had everything one could need.
“We bake fresh daily on the premises ... we’ve got pies and pasties, we’ve got focaccias and sandwiches. We have a lot of sweets and really good coffee.”
Mrs Mancini is no stranger to cafés and one could say running a hospitality business is in her blood, with her parents, Greg and Leanne Walsh, having run their own business in Cobram.
“My parents have been in the bakery scene for a really long time,” she said.
Her parents are now the bakers at Triple Bean Café.
Support for the café has been overwhelming and Mrs Mancini said staff had been run off their feet.
“We get a lot of passersby but we also get a lot of support from the Katamatite locals. A lot of them came in yesterday (opening day). It’s been really good,” she said.
The Triple Bean Café sign that adorns the premises was designed by Cobram Anglican Grammar School Year 10 student Tyler Cole.
Asked why she and her family decided to open a café in Katamatite, Mrs Mancini said they wanted to do something for their family and for the people of Katamatite, and that the best part of running the café was just the experience of it all.
“I love making coffees and I love interacting with people,” she said.
The Triple Bean Café is open between 6am and 4pm, Tuesday to Friday, and between 6am and 2pm on Saturday.
