It was a lucky escape for the occupants of two vehicles that collided on the corner of Nunn and Church Sts, Benalla, on Thursday, July 20.

Sergeant Shaun-Maree Brock said the accident was the result of a vehicle failing to give way.

“It was a two-vehicle collision between a ute and an SUV,” Sgt Brock said.

“The driver of the SUV was trapped for a short time, but only because of the position of the vehicles.

“Both drivers were assessed by paramedics.”

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said an ambulance was called to the accident but no emergency treatment or transport was required.

The incident took place around 4.35pm, with diversions in place until about 4.50pm when the road was reopened.

Sgt Brock urged drivers to pay attention on the road, particularly to road signs, slow down when necessary and drive to the conditions.
