Two people have been charged after an alleged early morning theft at a Shepparton service station on the weekend.

Police said cash and cigarettes were demanded from a staff member at the 7-Eleven service station on Wanganui Rd at 5am on Sunday, January 29.

Shepparton Crime Investigation Unit Detective Senior Sergeant Lance Wiltshire said police searched a Shepparton home and a Mooroopna home on Sunday and seized a large amount of cigarettes and money from the two homes.

A 35-year-old Mooroopna woman and a 34-year-old Shepparton woman have been charged with theft.

Both women have been bailed to appear in Shepparton Magistrates’ Court at a later date.

Det Sen Constable Wiltshire said police believe two members of the public — with one possibly a delivery driver — were leaving the service station around 5am, and are keen to speak to these people.
