Extensive damage was done to the car along with damage to shops.

Emergency service personnel were quickly onto the scene when a car crashed into two shops in Belmore Street Yarrawonga last Friday.

The incident happened at about 6.30am. Senior Sergeant Nathan Ractliffe at Cobram was on his way to work when the smash happened.

“Investigations will be ongoing,” he told the Yarrawonga Chronicle.

“But it seems the driver of what appears to be a black-coloured Ford Fairlane mistook the brake for the accelerator and shot across the street and footpath into the shops. “Fortunately he’s OK.”

The 77-year-old driver from Mulwala was placed in an ambulance and conveyed to Yarrawonga Hospital.

Extensive damage was done to the car. Considerable damage was done to the shops, particularly Material Girls shop.

SES, CFA Yarrawonga Group and NSW Fire + Rescue Mulwala Unit, Paramedics and Yarrawonga Police attended the scene.
