Recruiting: The Victorian Electoral Commission is seeking to fill vital roles for the next local government elections.

Vital local government election jobs

Victoria’s local government elections may not be until next year, but the Victorian Electoral Commission is already recruiting for senior election officials for the next vote on the state’s election calendar.

It might be overstating it to describe senior election officials, or SEOs, as vital to democracy, but as support for teams of local staff during elections, they do fulfil an important role.

SEOs are employed on short-term contracts every two years.

Apart from staff management, their roles include venue management, conducting ballot draws, processing candidate nominations, managing the security and tracking of ballot papers, managing scrutineers, and reporting and declaring results.

Applications are open until Friday, July 14, with more information available at vec.vic.gov.au/jobs
