All work and no play makes for a dull day, but All Saints and colour play makes for the brightest.

The All Saints Anglican School community celebrated All Saints Day with its first-ever colour run event on November 1.

The special day on the calendar recognises the school’s foundation and began with a whole school service of celebration, led by the Bishop of Wangaratta at St Augustine’s Church in Shepparton before coloured powder and slime rained from the sky back at the school grounds.

Participants conquered obstacles on the track and dashed through clouds of colour and splashes of water to make it stick.

The event was primarily a fundraiser for a playground at the school, but also fostered connection and joy among everyone involved.

“It was a joy to share with students and staff who took to the activities with whole-hearted enthusiasm,” principal Jim Laussen said.

“In a little over three weeks, our community raised just over $23,000 to build a fund towards the construction of a second playground.

“We are extremely grateful to our extraordinary Parents and Friends Committee for the careful planning and preparation that went into a most successful and enjoyable afternoon.”

Being a good sport, Mr Laussen allowed students to slime him at the end of the event to celebrate its success; the act inspiring many a cheer from students and parents.

Organisers expressed gratitude to the committee, teachers, volunteers, parents and everyone who showed up, donated and cheered participants on.

“Thank you for making it truly unforgettable,” they said.

Members of the Parents and Friends Committee said they were excited to see the forthcoming playground’s positive impact on the school’s students and were looking forward to seeing what the community would next accomplish together.
