The Victorian Government has launched two grant programs to support veterans and commemorate their service.
The Anzac Day Proceeds Fund is providing substantial financial backing, with grants reaching up to $150,000 for statewide initiatives and $50,000 for regional projects, specifically targeting the welfare and wellbeing of esteemed veterans.
Complementing this, the Victoria Remembers Grants are offering up to $30,000 for vital projects that not only recognise veterans’ service but also educate the wider community about their significant contributions to the nation.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes announced that applications have opened for both grants.
“Service can have a lasting impact on the lives of veterans and their families. It’s important that we give veterans the support they deserve and ensure their service, legacy and sacrifice are remembered,” she said.
The Victoria Remembers Grants are open to a variety of projects, including new war memorials, commemorative events, and public education initiatives such as podcasts or websites.
Ex-service organisations and veterans’ community groups are urged to take charge and capitalise on this opportunity by applying for the grants.
“These grants ensure we continue to support veteran communities who have given so much to our state,” Minister for Veterans Natalie Suleyman said.
Both grant programs will accept applications until September 9.
“We look forward to seeing applications for projects that ensure our veterans are supported in their life — and that their stories and legacies live on for generations to come,” Victorian Veterans Council chair Greg Yorke, AM, CSC said.
