In a fresh development, Victorian entities now have the opportunity to apply for grants up to $150,000 through the Growing Healthy Communities initiative.
The total funding pool stands at a robust $4 million, with the primary aim of supporting innovative ventures that enhance health outcomes for young individuals and their families across Victoria.
The grants are specifically designed to amplify access to wholesome, locally sourced food and foster opportunities for active play, recreation, sports, and artistic pursuits. Furthermore, they strive to cultivate culturally safe environments.
Eligible initiatives encompass community gardens, creative spaces, and other pioneering concepts that elevate local surroundings.
The application process is now active for organisations with projects that effectively dismantle structural hurdles to good health.
State Member for Euroa Annabelle Cleeland encouraged local organisations to apply.
“Growing Healthier Communities grants will empower the Euroa region by enhancing access to healthy food and nurturing meaningful social connections for a vibrant and healthy future,” Ms Cleeland said.
“Many regional Victorians and their families face structural barriers to good health. These barriers can be more significant for people from communities facing disadvantage.
“Community organisations play a critical role in driving positive health outcomes and I look forward to seeing how these grants can support their important work.”
Recipients of the grant will not only be provided with financial assistance but will also gain access to a network of like-minded leaders, sharing insightful tips and equipping them with essential tools, training, and support to enhance their capabilities.
Eligible candidates for this grant include sporting clubs, community groups, cultural organisations, recreational bodies, creative entities, local councils, and other not-for-profit institutions.
Guidelines for the funding are now accessible on the Growing Healthy Communities Grants webpage, with applications being accepted from Wednesday, July 3, until Wednesday, July 31.
