Kara Metzger and Leanne Glenn started volunteering at Community Living and Respite Services’ social enterprises the Recyclability op shop in Echuca and the Murray River Tea Rooms in Moama in 2015.
Both Ms Metzger and Ms Glenn volunteer three times a week at both locations.
And for National Volunteer’s Week, Waratah House manager Michelle Huisman is taking the time to thank them for their all their hard work.
“They give up their time to help others,” she said.
“Volunteering is a valuable contribution to the community that deserves to be recognised and appreciated.”
Ms Glenn said volunteering had been a rewarding experience that had had a positive impact on her wellbeing.
“I just love my job and I love being able to help and care for others,” she said.
Through volunteering, Ms Metzger and Ms Glenn have gained experience in customer service, retail and hospitality, money handling, EFTPOS, table service, coffee making, food plating, food safety, shop displays and pricing.
They have also helped with banking and the collection of donated cakes and slices from generous supporters in the community.
A spokesperson for CLRS said the organisation provided volunteers with training to learn new skills, make new friends and have the satisfaction of making a difference in the community.
