Victorian Nationals leader and incumbent Member for Murray Plains Peter Walsh is set to retain his seat for a sixth term in office.
Mr Walsh is set for a swing towards him according to current projections at 8pm on election night, with 25% of the votes for his electorate already counted.
With 66% of the overall vote compared to Labor candidate Damien Hurrell with 15.3%, Mr Walsh is looking at a 75.8% to 24.2% preference advantage over his closest opponent.
That would represent around a 2% swing towards Mr Walsh after he retained the seat with a 23.9% margin for the Nationals in 2018.
At the time of writing Family First Victoria’s Cameron MacPherson had 7% of the overall vote and Freedom Party’s Katia Bish 4% - representing the only other candidates above 3% in the race.
