Shepparton has experienced its fair share of over 30℃ days this month, with seven of those days reminding us that summer is just around the corner.
Compared to November 2022 and historical averages for November daytime temperatures, this year was a warm one.
November 2022 saw a mean daytime temperature of 22.2℃, five degrees lower than this year’s 27.5℃, and the historic average of 26.2℃, while more similar, was still cooler than this year.
The warmest November day this year was on Saturday, November 11, when the mercury reached 35.8℃.
In terms of rainfall, November 2023 was relatively dry, with a total of 27.4mm, having over 20mm less rain than this time last year and similar differences in the historical averages.
This month’s highest rainfall was on Saturday, November 25, with 11.8mm of rain recorded.
This year, rain fell on seven days during November — which is right on the mean, with the historical average sitting at seven days of rain. However, last November saw 10 days of rain.
Nighttime temperatures were marginally warmer than the historical average of 10.9℃ taken over the past 27 years, with a mean of 12.7℃ this month.
The warmest night this month was 20℃ on November 24, while the coldest saw the mercury plummet to 7.3℃ on November 1.
Today isn’t only the last day of November but also the last day of spring, so let’s take a look at this season’s weather.
September saw higher than usual daytime temperatures, while October daytime temperatures in Shepparton were slightly colder compared to other years.
Rainfall this month saw a combined total of 108.8mm of rain, with 65.8 of the total mm being from October, which was a record-breaking month for rainfall.
Night temperatures were only marginally different from the historical averages this season, with the coldest nighttime temperature being a chilly 0.4℃ on Wednesday, September 6.
The hottest day in spring 2023 was Saturday, November 11, at 35.8℃, while the coldest day this season was Wednesday, October 4, at 13.8℃.
Friday, December 1, will mark the start of a new month, a new season and the official beginning of the holiday season.
