Water main bursts

GVW Managing Director Steve Capewell thanked residents for their patience

Goulburn Valley Water crews worked overnight to repair four water main bursts on Kyabram’s Park St.

Crews responded to a reported burst around 8pm Friday near the Fenaughty St intersection.

Repairs were completed around 2am Saturday, with the work more complex than usual due to nearby infrastructure.

Shortly after repairs, crews noticed two more bursts along the same section. A second crew arrived early Saturday morning to complete repairs.

A fourth leak was discovered early Saturday afternoon and repaired by 6pm.

The water main bursts affected the water supply for about 60 properties along Park St.

GVW Managing Director Steve Capewell thanked Park St customers for their patience during the repairs.

“We really appreciate the understanding of these customers while we worked to get crews and materials on site over almost a 24-hour period, so we could complete the repairs safely on site, and safely for our staff,” Dr Capewell said.

“Multiple bursts on the same section of pipe can occur, especially during repair work, but we will keep an eye on this water main and assess if we need to take further action to ensure we can continue delivering a reliable service for customers.”
