Brace yourselves for an enchanting journey through the forest as Echuca-Moama Theatre Company (EMTC) announces its 2024 musical spectacular, Into the Woods.
And thanks to the creative talents of co-director Tamara Cadd, the first cast member has already hoofed their way into the show — none other than the beloved Milky White.
While this bovine beauty is ready to steal the spotlight, fear not.
The adventure is far from complete, and EMTC is on the lookout for more performers to join Milky White to be part of this magical, brilliantly original story of intertwined fairytales.
“After the huge success of Shrek this year, we’re keeping with the fairytale with a twist theme,” Cadd said.
“Into the Woods intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm fairytales and explores the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests.”
Cadd will join fellow co-directors Mark Thomson and Sean O’Brien in bringing Stephen Sondheim’s award-winning musical to life.
“The characters from this show are ones that so many will recall fondly from childhood and it’s a fantastic mix of all the favourites, which allows for such a diverse group of ages to be involved,” Cadd said.
EMTC will hold an information night on Monday, December 11, for people interested in auditioning.
The information night will be a chance for people to meet the production team, learn about the story and characters of Into the Woods and the audition and casting process, discuss the rehearsal and show schedule and book for audition.
If singing isn’t your thing, there is still a place on stage for you as EMTC is looking for a small dance-only troupe.
People must be aged 14 and above to audition.
The information night will be held at 7pm at EMTC’s Shed in Simmie St.
