A meeting of the West Highland White Terrier Club in Nagambie at the weekend attracted more than 30 dogs.
The group meets regularly in different towns to walk their white West Highland terriers together.
A lap of Lake Nagambie may seem like a big walk for a dog with little legs, but owner Andrew McGavin said that despite its size, it is a very sturdy dog.
Mr McGavin lives in Euroa and between himself, his wife and his mother, they own six West Highland terriers.
“They are a small dog but a real dog, they have a lot of personality about them. They are loveable dogs,” he said.
“They are very much a part of your family. They are not a single-person dog like some other breeds and they are great with children.”
West Highland White Terrier Club of Victoria president Liz McLean brought along one dog, but has five more at home.
“Once you become a westie owner, you become involved in the social side of it as well,” she said.
“Everyone looks after their own and everyone looks after everyone else as well. It’s a great little community of westies.”
She said, like their owners, the westies enjoy the chance to get together, seeming to know that they are with their own breed.
Despite this, getting them all together for a photo is harder than one might think.
