Shepparton had a wetter and generally cooler spring this year than in previous years.

A mammoth 280.8mm fell over the three months in the city.

The highest monthly rainfall came in October, with 151.6mm recorded in the Bureau of Meteorology’s rain gauge at the Shepparton Airport.

This is more than four times the historical mean October rainfall recorded over the past 26 years — that number is 35.4mm — while it is almost three times higher than the historical rainfall recorded in Shepparton between 1965 and 1996 (51.9mm).

October was also the month that Shepparton, Mooroopna and surrounding towns suffered from devastating floods.

This year’s monthly October rainfall was only 34mm less than the rainfall that also caused flooding in the region in 1993 — when 186mm of rain fell during the month.

The rainfall in November was much lower than the previous month, with a total of 49mm.

However it was up slightly (3.7mm) on the historical monthly average taken over the past 26 years.

November 13 was the wettest day of the month, when 16.2mm was recorded.

Night-time temperatures were down only slightly on the historical average, with a mean minimum of 10.1℃ this year compared to the historical mean of 10.8℃.

The warmest November night this year came on November 10 when it was 16.2℃, while the coldest night was a chilly 4.7℃ on November 16.
