Greater Shepparton City Council is seeking community feedback and ideas for an exciting new project.
The plan is to revitalise the former harness racing site located at the corner of McLennan St and Elsie Jones Dve, Mooroopna, turning it into the Greater Shepparton Bike Jump Park.
Bike-loving families, kids, teenagers and ‘big kids’ are all encouraged to share their thoughts, and help create a great facility.
The park will be targeted at beginner through to intermediate riders, allowing skill development and ongoing rider progression and enjoyment.
Council director of infrastructure Gary Randhawa said council supported the creation of family-friendly, safe recreation spaces and was excited to be engaging with local youth, residents and families as development continued.
“This is a great opportunity for local youth and bike enthusiasts alike to provide their feedback and help shape the direction and design of the bike jump park,” he said.
“The more feedback we receive, the better we can make the facility, and in turn, the more people we will hopefully see using it when complete.”
A community consultation session to discuss feedback and ideas with staff involved in the project directly, including the project manager, will take place at Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre on Monday, September 9 from 4pm to 6pm.
If you cannot make the community consultation session, other ways to provide feedback include:
- Sharing your ideas at shaping.greatershepparton.com.au/bike-jump-park
- Completing the feedback form, available from the Mooroopna and Shepparton libraries
- Emailing projects@shepparton.vic.gov.au with your ideas
- Contacting Council’s Project Manager on (03) 5832 9700
- Posting or dropping in your ideas to 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton 3630
The preliminary consultation stage closes at midnight on Friday, September 13; feedback must be provided before that date.
The second stage will see the feedback provided collated to produce initial concept designs, which will then be made available to the public for feedback before the final design is locked in.
