Nagambie’s High St had a very lively Saturday, August 3, with the Winter Wonderland pop up ice rink.

Manny Cuschieri brought his two sons, Lincoln and Lewis, to experience outdoor ice skating.

“I thought it was a nice day, and we knew the market was on, so we thought we'll come to the market and the boys can do have a bit of a skate at the same time,” he said.

“It’s a fun activity for winter, something different.”

Lincoln said he likes the pop-up ice rink because it is peaceful with the view of the Nagambie Lake.

“It’s very fun,” he said.

“I love how you are just on ice, and you glide.”

Strathbogie Shire Council Administrator, Peter Stephenson said the Winter Wonderland event, which included Extreme Cloud Snowboarding experience, hot chocolate, a photobooth, and live music is part of the council’s initiative of community flood recovery efforts.

“These free events are made possible thanks to funding from the Victorian and Australian Governments through the Community Recovery Hub grant,” he said.

“Local chambers and business owners have warmly welcomed the event’s return, recognising its positive impact on the community and local economy.”
