Alexandra Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a woman after an alleged burglary and theft of a ute along with firefighting equipment from the Highlands CFA on Ghin Ghin Rd on January 9.

The ute, a 2006 Toyota LandCruiser with CFA markings, was allegedly stolen along with the equipment.

Police located the vehicle parked in a service station on the Hume Fwy, Tallarook, and attempted to intercept it on January 10.

The ute allegedly collided with a police car, unoccupied at the time, before it drove away with police in pursuit.

Police lost sight of the LandCruiser, which was found a short time later, abandoned on Hume Fwy, Wallan.

A 36-year-old Melton South woman was arrested nearby.

She was interviewed by detectives and is expected to be charged on summons.

A male suspect is yet to be identified.
