Plates and linen were among items allegedly stolen from several flood-affected houses in Mooroopna during the past several weeks.

Shepparton police Detective Acting Sergeant Matt Clowes said about eight vacant homes in Mooroopna were broken into between early January and Wednesday, February 7.

All were flood-affected houses that occupants had had to move out of.

The most recent occurred overnight at Echuca Rd on Tuesday.

Act Sgt Clowes said most items taken from the homes were household items, including cups, plates, cutlery and linen.

Tools were also taken from garden sheds.

Act Sgt Clowes said on several occasions the alleged thief had collected items inside the house together to be picked up at another time, but the home’s occupants had returned and found the items moved.

A 50-year-old Mooroopna woman was arrested on Wednesday, February 7.

She is facing more than 20 charges of burglary, theft and trespassing.

She has been bailed to face Shepparton Magistrates’ Court at a later date.
