The horror run has continued on the region’s roads, with the death of a third person in five days.

An elderly Melbourne woman died in a single-vehicle crash at Locksley on Monday, September 4.

The 86-year-old from Tullamarine was the driver of the car that rolled on Carmody’s Rd just before 1pm.

Ambulance Victoria said the other vehicle occupant, an 86-year-old Essendon woman, was flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a stable condition for assessment and observation.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, which happened in the small farming area between Nagambie and Euroa.

A Shepparton man died on Thursday, August 31 after he was allegedly hit by a car on the Shepparton-Barmah Rd at Shepparton North.

A Tullamarine man died on Sunday, September 3 after his car crashed into a tree on the Goulburn Valley Fwy at Arcadia.

The Locksley and Arcadia crashes came after police issued an urgent road safety warning to motorists as Victoria entered what was its deadliest month for crashes last year.

Twenty-eight people died on Victoria’s roads in September last year — the highest number of fatalities recorded for the month in 16 years.
